The question is how are top bots creators writing their dialogue? What are the practices? Can it report on Brexit? It seems to be dangerous for the writers but hardly persuasive. How worried we ought to be about such possibilities depends on what we think culture fundamentally is. It is going to be worrisome only if we think everything around us is data.

But writing is not data. It is a means of expression. A non-conscious computer program has nothing to do with the expression as it does not perceive the world as we do. No matter how much we teach AI, it is just going to enhance in a limited way. But human intelligence embraces self-awareness and high levels of motivation.

This is the kind of discussion that gets really political really fast. And at the moment, says Rainie, Pew’s opinion surveys show that it’s not really on the public’s radar.

So, I don’t think that bots will be able to take complete control of humans. As time goes by and with various technological advancements, the role of humans will deteriorate but not end, of course.
